OWNER OF THE WORLD´S LARGEST FLEET OF HAMMAR
Mid November 2006, a ceremony was held in Port Klang when the thirtieth Hammarlift was deliverd to our customer Taipanco Sdn Bhd, and thereby made them to the world´s largest Hammar owners.
Sweden´s Ambassador in Malaysia, Mrs Helena Sångeland, had in her speech a tribute to the successful collaboration between Hammar Malaysia and our customer.
The occasion gave for the first time ever the opportunity to photograph thirty sideloaders simultaneously! |

HAMMAR EXTENDS AGAIN
Hardly had the concrete of the last construction dried, before Hammar in Sweden (HQ)started adding more production space.
It is the high demand around the world of HAMMAR´s Sideloaders, both new units and factory refurbished second-hands, that justifies this new extension.
When completed by the end of 2006, the 250 000 sqft premises will be used by our new maintenance unit, serving existing Hammars and restorating second-hands to be shipped to new missions and new customers.
- “The removal of our maintenance unit to these new premises will release longed-for production´s surface in other parts of the factory”, says production manager Sven-Gunnar Östangård.
Connected to the new premises also a new wash hall will be built.

HAMMAR AUSTRALIA EXPANDS
The increased demand for HAMMAR Equipment around Australia has given Hammar the incentive to invest in a new Service Centre in Brisbane, as a first step in a large investment plan.
- “We will now be able to give our customers faster and more professional service where being close and always available to the customer is our focus” says Peter Levison, Managing Director for Hammar Australia.
Malcom Thompson will be responsible for the new Service Centre in Brisbane. Malcom has been in charge of the Hammar Service from other rented premises since a few years already.
- “With new facilities, right location and with more tradesmen skills we will make it as easy as possible for our customers. Probably it will not be just HAMMAR owners to take care of” says Malcom with a smile.
Bengt-Olof Hammar, founder and owner of the Hammar Group, was also present at the official construction start in August 2006. |

WITH A FOCUS ON SAFETY
Hammar has always put focus on and taken the operator's safety into consideration when using Sideloaders.
That is why the training of the driver/operator is always included in the commissioning of a new HAMMAR. The training gives the new operator a safe start and confidence to start using the new equipment.
All new designs include much concentration on, and investment in safety. On all HAMMARs one will find a number of details and components that shall prevent the operator to make mistakes, without complicating the actual operation. It is important to be able to rely even on a ten year old HAMMAR. To know that it is a robust piece of equipment, sustaining the rough handling it is mostly subjected to. The use of HAMMAR Original Parts is an important pre-requisite.
A new step to improve on the operator's safety is that all HAMMAR are delivered with fluorescent yellow safety vests for the highest possible visibility during both day and night. |

NEW PRODUCTION BUILDING IN SYDNEY
Hammar's new production building in Sydney, Australia was only recently finished and the assembly phase of the Sideloader production could move into the new and modern facility, that also includes new offices.
The old production space is still being used, but now only for producing the chassis.
- “There was simply not enough space and we had to extend to cope with the increasing production volumes of new HAMMARs. To separate the heavy production from the assembly was a natural solution” says Peter Levison, Managing Director for Hammar Australia.
Together with Megan, Jim and a few others of Hammar's employees in Sydney, Peter could proudly show the result to Bengt-Olof Hammar, founder and owner of the Hammar Group, at one of his regular visits in Australia. |

SERVICE CONTRACTS TO HAMMAR MALAYSIA
It was a proud Chris Joon, Executive Director, of Hammar Malaysia that early January 2006 could sign an agreement with Multimodal Freight Sdn Bhd, about a larger number of Service Contracts for their HAMMAR Sideloaders.
The Service & Maintenance Contracts offered by Hammar MY to their customers include a full service with fixed weekly intervals. The fact that Hammar takes care of both service and replacements of wear parts for the customer at a fixed monthly rate, allows the customer to focus on their core business, well knowing that their sideloaders are always available for operation and have no downtime. Due to unplanned repairs. The customers also know that only HAMMAR Original Parts are used, which is another important safety factor.
- “Our qualified technical staff performs the service quickly and efficiently. At the same time they detect possible areas of future problems allowing the customer time to plan such repairs at periods suitable to their operation. There are other work shops offering similar service, but there is none that knows HAMMAR Sideloaders better than we do” says Chris.
At the end of each month the customer also gets a complete service form as verification of what has been done and how long time the units has been in the work shop each time. |

HAMMAR IN CONSTANT EXPANSION
The Head Office of HAMMAR in Sweden extends its buildings at Olsfors, nearby Göteborg.
The last increase in surface goes back to only 2 years, but the growing demand for HAMMARs requires a new extension.
The new buildings will host a plasma-carver and a few workshops of transformation.
At the same time, a reorganization of logistics will permit to optimize the increasing arrival of steel, as well as the course of manufactured products, since all stages of transformation are carried out in the factory.
- “It is a matter of managing raw material as well as manufactured goods, in order to gain some time on transferring process” says CEO Mr Bengt-Olof Hammar.
The new buildings will be available by the end of November. |
